What happens if you defy hircine
It is possible for the White Stag to relocate to a position on the map beyond the world limits, making it impossible to finish this quest. After wearing the Cursed ring, and turning into a werewolf manually, it may be impossible to return to normal self.
PC PS3 Sinding is unable to be spoken within the jail because he is stuck or simply will not move from the back wall. Fixes: Leave and re-enter the jail. Use the Unrelenting Force shout on Sinding then leave and re-enter the jail. Attack Sinding with spells or ranged weaponry and yield.
PC Fix It is possible to use the player. The only way to leave the cell is again using the command to move the Dragonborn to a follower if they have one or any NPC other than Sinding.
PC It is possible to continue the quest without killing the White Stag by typing setstage DA05 50 in the command prompt. After using the command, the quest marker may not point correctly, but traveling to Bloated Man's Grotto and continuing the quest will fix this.
Sinding will turn hostile if spells, including non-hostile ones such as healing spells, are cast at him. After three "attacks" from the player, he will begin combat. The quest will not progress and Sinding will be invulnerable to damage. The only way to fix this is to reload a previous save. It is possible that, after killing the White Stag, Sinding will remain in the cell, even though everyone says that he escaped. The quest stage "Kill Sinding" can not be completed.
Sometimes the ring will not take effect after Hircine removes the curse. Reloading a previous save and getting the ring again fixes this. It is possible to keep the Cursed Ring of Hircine while still getting one or both of the final quest rewards. After defeating the hunters and talking to Sinding, the quest will be considered complete, and the Cursed Ring of Hircine may then be dropped or stored, as it is no longer considered a quest item.
If the Dragonborn stores the ring in one of the chests inside or on a follower, Hircine will still give the uncursed ring Ring of Hircine even though it is not in the Dragonborn's inventory. The cursed ring can then be retrieved after completing the quest. Note: Storing the Cursed Ring on a dead body will make it disappear, as the bodies disappear after speaking with Hircine. When using fast travel, there can be a transformation from which the Dragonborn can not recover.
To avoid this, travel to the grotto manually. PC PS3 If riding on a horse when a transformation occurs, the camera will remain focused on the horse and will no longer follow the Dragonborn. It is recommended to not ride a horse while holding the ring.
Fix: Reload to an earlier save. PS3 When one decides to spare Sinding's life, he will begin to follow the Dragonborn to kill the other hunters.
Instead of going onward, if one decides to go backwards and leave the cave, Sinding may stop following and instead wander up on the road. If the Dragonborn follows him on the road, Sinding may still fight by their side on any random encounter, but will become hostile if the Dragonborn attempts to attack or to heal him.
This may change the quest objective to Kill Sinding. His destination is Falkreath Jail. Patch 3 may have fixed an issue with both only counting as 1. Potential Explanation: This may be due to the achievement being linked to the completion of a Daedric artifact quest and not for receiving the artifact itself.
The fact that using one of the exploits to obtain both items still only completes the quest once backs up this hypothesis. He wanders these woods. Bring him down and I wish you luck, but should leave here while I still have my skin. Should our paths cross again, I will remember your kindness. When you are ready to leave, the patrolling guard may approach you and notice: "You And then he escaped.
What are you hiding? NOTE : If you are a lycanthrope, the ring will cause you to randomly transform into your beast form, which may cause a significant bounty if triggered at the wrong time. If you are not infected, the ring's only effect will be to take up your finger slot.
The great beast turns out to be a unique deer named White Stag and can be found in an unmarked clearing east of Falkreath, usually drinking water from a small pond. If you are spotted, the stag will usually howl, then set off at a running pace up the mountain. Do your best to catch up with it, or make effective use of your long-range weapons to hit it.
Once you've killed it, the Aspect of Hircine will emerge from the dead stag, talking to you: "I am the spirit of the hunt, just one glimpse of the glorious stalker that your kind calls Hircine. Instead he will ask a favor: "I may consider it. But you must first do a service for my glory.
The one who stole it has fled to what he thinks is his sanctuary. Just as a bear climbs a tree to escape the hunt, but only ends up trapping himself. Seek out this rogue shifter. Tear the skin from his body, and make it an offering to me. Bloated Man's Grotto is a small cave between Falkreath and Morthal , normally inhabited by bears and spriggans. When you arrive during the quest, however, you will find that the Great Hunt is underway and the Bloodmoon dominates the sky.
You will encounter the remains of a small hunting party, with three of the members, Batum gra-Bar , Ma'tasarr and Hoddreid , already dead.
A fourth member, J'Kier , is still alive, but fatally wounded. When you approach him, he will say: "The prey is strong. Stronger than the hunters. But more will come. Bring him down, for the glories of Lord Hircine. Loot the corpses and a locked chest behind the camp. There is also a chest in the small 'lake' where the waterfall is. After looting the chests, follow the northern path until Sinding appears on a rock above. He will be confused as to why you are there to hunt him down: "I can't stop you if that's what you want to do.
Hircine is too powerful. But if you spare me, I can be a powerful ally to you. And I would promise to never return to civilized life. I know now that I can't live among people.
In order to do so:. It has been reported that the above does not work in all cases. Sinding is a Nord werewolf imprisoned in the jail of Falkreath. Upon speaking to Mathies , he explains that Sinding killed his daughter while in werewolf form. Sinding was in Falkreath because he was looking for a giant beast roaming the wilds around the village.
If he killed this beast, the Daedric Lord Hircine would lift his curse. During the quest, the Dragonborn receives the Ring of Hircine from Sinding, which causes the wearer to sporadically transform into a werewolf.
When walking away from his cell, a glance backwards will show a werewolf ripping off the bars from the roof, and guards will ask the Dragonborn about him escaping upon leaving the barracks. Killing the transformed Sinding and taking his skin is necessary to obtain the Savior's Hide from Hircine and to remove the Ring of Hircine. Alternatively, Sinding can be spared and the hunters killed, which removes the curse from the Ring of Hircine and allows lycanthropes to use it to transform as many times as desired.
If spared, it seems Sinding is ultimately unable to control his beast blood. If the option to spare Sinding is taken, even if the Dragonborn turned around and killed him as well to complete the quest both ways, he can appear later in a random encounter as a hostile werewolf fighting a guard from the local hold. He can also be encountered in werewolf form, but friendly, in Bloated Man's Grotto.
The last of the hunters is dead. I will make my home here, away from anyone I might hurt. This section contains bugs related to Sinding. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:.

Spare him, and you'll get a gift from Sinding instead. Both gifts are useful but one is arguabbly better than the other. You can get both gifts through a glitch, if you don't mind exploiting bugs. C'mon friend!
You can tell me! I'm a big boy! User Info: ShiroKaito. I let Sinding live on principle. Yeah, he killed a girl, but Hircine started it by cursing that ring.
As far as rewards go, the reward for sparing him is only good for werewolves. Of course, as someone else mentioned, you could cheat and get both. Spare his life he'll give you some ring.
