Which ucf dorm should i choose

Students of all classifications, from first-year to graduate students, may apply for student housing located at the Rosen College Apartments, UnionWest, and NorthView. There are many types of available floorplans. These range from traditional shared suites to 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, luxury apartments and include a wide variety of price points.

A shared suite typically accommodates two students to a bedroom, and two bedrooms 4 students share a bathroom. Apartments can accommodate 2 to 6 students and typically feature private bedrooms, with shared living rooms and kitchens or kitchenettes. First-year students who are admitted for the Summer B semester have the opportunity to apply for a separate summer-only housing agreement in addition to their Fall housing agreement.

Students moving in for Summer B may stay at the main campus or the Rosen campus, and will move out at the end of summer for the two-week break between summer and fall. You can certainly read about the dorms and where to live on campus on the UCF Housing and Residence Life pages, but we asked my daughter and our interns for the inside scoop…which is probably what you really want to know before you choose where to live when you become a Knight. Academic Village is awesome to live in.

You have close access to the pool and the gym, but parking can, at times, be a task. Academic Village houses the majority of freshman students Nike, Hercules, and Neptune , but it can be a bit of a hike to campus classes and during the hotter months, that sort of stinks. Then there is Libra, which is in a great location on campus, but the rooms are shared — and while living with a roommate in your actual bedroom is probably the norm for college life, having a room to yourself is also pretty awesome ie: Towers, Lake Claire, and Nike are single bedroom, apartment-style.

If you choose to live in the Towers, when picking which Tower you want to live in, I recommend Tower 1 or 3. Tower 1, is for anyone, Tower 2 is international, Towers 3 is for honors and Tower 4 is an athletic dorm.

Although these are the basic breakdown, there is still a mix in all Towers. Personally, I think the best community to live in would be Lake Claire. They have kitchens and single bedrooms and have great proximity to the Greek row and many classes. The only downside is if you get stuck on the third floor. The building is old and has no elevators. In Nike, I had my own room, kitchen and living room so I felt like I had plenty of space for my things and it made the transition from home easier.

You may want to check out our blog on meal plans here. Both Towers and Northview are apartment style units with individual bedrooms and either private bathrooms or bathrooms shared with one other resident. With an annual contract, you are assigned a room selection date determined by your housing confirmation date and you pick your exact room — by building and actual room number.

You will have to check the details of the academic year contract dorms. Some of the academic year dorms have shared bedrooms and four residents to one bathroom. There is a ton of information about dorms on the UCF Housing page. And after you wade through all of that, call the Housing office if you have any questions.

They are very helpful. One warning on the campus tour — prepare to be blown away! Believe it or not, I found some of the move-in videos on YouTube to be the most helpful because some of them showed sweeping views of every room, obviously filmed by a kid with a cellphone.

Not the others. Appreciate your input. The cost is a little higher, but not bad if you use all or part of the Summer term. Students have to have 9 hours earned during the summer to graduate anyway, and our DD is going to do Summer A One other thing. No matter which dorm you choose, there is a roommate matching system available once you are confirmed for housing.

The girls can exchange Instagram stuff, chat back and forth, etc, and get to know each other. The roommate with the earliest confirmation date does the room selection, so all benefit. In fact, at least 3 of them will probably get an off-campus apartment together starting next Fall. At The Station Alafaya, having roommates barging into your room late at night or being disturbed by loud floormates in the middle of a study session are a thing of the past.

A serene environment is just another set of perks of off campus living. For a community that embodies the perfect social-student balance, look no further than The Station Alafaya in Orlando, FL. Just a few minutes away from the University of Central Florida, our guests can stay connected to campus life without having to sacrifice their lifestyle needs. Contact us today to schedule a tour!
