Why choose southampton solent

Best university in terms of facilities, staff, the courses, location. Also one of the best in UK for sports courses. Where to begin the course I was on was so unsatisfactory and the course leaders were a joke, after running around in circles for three years we managed to get somewhere only after going to the OIA. I have advised multiple people about not going to solent merely because of it. It's a great place to develop yourself and your skills both as a person and as a professional.

Came here through clearing and have not regretted a moment of it. I love Solent they are an all inclusive uni and provide so much help and guidance to all students. The services are amazing and I have a real love for it all. Very modern university with great facilities - especially on media-based courses.

Some parts are a bit outdated and the SU isn't massive, but there are several different societies to join, not just sports teams. Variety of cafes and restaurants on campus, all reasonably cheap.

All universities lecturers I have been taught my have put in as much effort as possible in order to help me achieve to my highest standard. The facilities are terrible and they student hub is a joke. I've been at Solent for 2 years now and they provided me support ranging from career advice to helping sort out my student finance, switch course etc. Good support from lecturers Great courses available New buildings great facilities.

University is useless. The lecturers don't even know the subject they are teaching and any chance of passing comes from your own self learning. I transferred here from a different University and I am so glad I did! The English BA degree is brilliant, the lecturers are extremely enthusiastic, inspiring, and supportive. The modules and course content is very varied and gives you a great expanse of knowledge.

It has helped me develop as a person in many ways. If you want to study an English degree this is the place to do it! A really good university, with a proper community feel. Coming to this university was one of the best decisions I made. Friendly university that offers a wide range of support to students. Campus is relatively easy to get around. University is allright overall. Only one nice building, the other ones are old and not attractive. Some lecturers and seminar tutors dont seem like they care about what you are taught.

For how much the course is, you are not getting your money worth. Really good up and coming Uni! University has high end facilities and plans to upgrade those that are behind. Good campus facilities. Brilliant Wi-Fi across campus. Student union is okay, bring back the bar! Fantastic hands on experience. Solent always make you sure the academic work relates to the working world! University is a small and lovely university.

Support from all lecturers and staff is incredible. Never felt so wanted in a university or anywhere before. The staff are all friendly and it is a really nice atmosphere to be in.

The social part is also really good. I love Solent! Such friendly staff and help is always provided when needed! The staff always seem to push me in the right direction. For example, with assignments I aim to link them to the automotive industry where I can because that's where I'd like to end up. Would really recommend to anyone, particularly mature students. Especially in the student hub building. Terrible course, nothing goes right, lecture planning is non-existant. Lessons are a joke, current lecturer knows nothing about the subject he is teaching.

Can't wait to leave and never come back. The entire university from the sleek and modern campus, to the teachers, to the resources and equipment available is simply amazing. Small City but large amount of students and always plenty to do. The team work really hard and are fully committed to increasing student job prospects and employability. The university has a great range of faciliitys that specialise for specific courses.

Recently refurbished with several new brand buildings. Amazing and supportive staff, excellent teaching facilities. Bring on second year in September. Lectures and seminars are delivered in a fun and interesting way, contact time with lecturers is good.

Definitely getting a good quality of education. Great city centre location. Fantastic facilities. Shame about the lack of support for students in all aspects - welfare, careers, ect. The teaching and facilities are excellent but everything to do with the students union could be improved a lot from the societies to the actual SU building.

My course at this university has been diabolical, no guidance, no teaching and I am not ready to work in my field. I've just finished my first year, and I've never felt more helped than I have here. The lecturers go out of their way to help and are available to contact whenever you need them.

Really great uni espically the careers and solent future. There's a lot of help around the uni and support for the students.

Since I first started studying at Solent 2 years ago I've had a great experience. The facilities for photography and film are exceptional and all the staff is incredibly kind. The campus was well presented and easy to navigate. However I didn't have a good experience with the staff as they seemed disinterested in me when I started struggling with personal issues.

I ended up leaving in my first term of my first year. The university is good if you want to focus on sports Its an extremely sports orientated University. It seems like most funding goes into sports related curriculum rather than equally spread across all subject areas.

Great campus, WiFi on campus is really good however uni halls WiFi is touch and go, often not working or being slow. Graduating next month. Couldn't be happier with the outcome of my degree. Impressed by the support given to students regarding employability and CV help. Lots of opportunities to gain professional work experience here and the careers advisors know their stuff.

Didn't use the students union much as it's a city uni and there's loads to do near by. Harjinder Virdee course leader is a fantastic lecturer and so are many of his colleagues, all of whom operate with an open door policy and are easy to contact. With regards to societies, I have been a member of several but finally settled with rugby. I cannot emphasise enough what a brilliant decision it is to join a society while at university. Weekly socials minimum , annual tour, good training facilities, cheap gym membership, free use of physios, character building, etc Ultimately, you will get as much out of university as you put in!

Southampton is not a town for the faint hearted - I would have felt safer walking the streets of London alone of a night time. The halls themselves are beyond appalling - not very spacious and terribly maintained, always an aroma of urine and plant of molly around. The surrounded students are noisy and inconsiderate. The distance from a lot of the halls to the main buildings are painfully long, and not worth your time.

Do not go to Solent. Perfect place to go if you want to ruin your career, self-esteem and life in general. The university is astonishingly bad, I ignored the university rankings when applying, but apparently they were right.

The standard for teaching is appalling, they can only teach the basics. They have the cheapest facilities they can find, they lie about having some other facilities because they forget to tell you that they don't have the software for them and no one knows how to properly put them to good use.

Unbelievably disorganised, lots of lectures cancelled for no reason. Lecturers generally uninterested, go elswhere if you can. Fashion Design course was terrible, and the tutors did not support me, the stress caused mental health problems. I had a great time and experience. The Uni staff member is really helpful and will go for the extra mile. They got a good stander of quality education.

Simply, it this university that you learn from, you has fun, meet good people and build your career. I wouldn't recommend coming here to any other student, save yourself from the stress of the disorganised lecturers, who make no effort in helping or getting to know their students.

Absolutely appalling. Would I waste my time here? No way. People can be friendly but you are shafted from pillar to post. This uni couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery even given the starting pint.

Faultless apart from the poor SU - the Uni itself deserves all the credit it can get, and by the Uni, I mean lecturers, not the management as they're business men who have no clue. Very good wifi, societies are very limited compared to other universities. Good university for having industry links as the lecturers come from their respective fields, so their knowledge is first class.

Great Uni, everyone is friendly and the facilities are incredible. The campus is in a great location, just 5 minutes walk from the high street and West Quay. The Union is amazing, serving up some of the best food i've eaten. I've yet to dip my foot into the realm of societies, though. The reputation Solent has is completely unjust. University ranking tables are unfairly judged and should be abolished.

Solent is great for those who are interested in creative sectors. The campus itself is modern and yet fairly easy to get around. There are numerous societies and clubs to join which, like all universities, enable you to meet new people with similar interests as you!

The Students Union is on hand for literally everything. Whether it be a small worry or something completely out of your control, they'll always be there to help you and give advice. The opportunities given by Solent are second to none, given that you're working with professionals on a standard daily basis my course leader used to work for the BBC and many courses offer you the chance to work with people in the relevant industries, give you the opportunity to go on numerous trips and even a chance to study abroad.

Great place, okay uni. Love my course, but the whole university is a bit lacklustre. It's pretty decent the internet is flawless like the worldly I saw at Yates one Thursday evening. The Uni itself is great and very morden and industry focused how the only down side is the price of uni in general. I stayed in LFW and it was the worse experience of my life and want to move out the next day but was not able to.

Great uni! I've loved my experience so far, it has everything that you could possibly need, whilst being in the centre of town and super close to everything. Added to how friendly everyone is, it's a great uni! A modern style university of 10 years with an unreal night life. The university is well maintained and easily accessible from the main transport links, it is well linked with many industries. Though the Student's Union has a nice bar and cafeteria, it is vastly underfunded and very poorly maintained, through large financial cuts over the past few years, leaving clubs and societies high and dry, struggling to maintain themselves.

I thought it was Uni Of when I arranged the open day, I didnt make it into my first choice and ended up at Solent and good god how I hate it. Despite Southampton solents poor ratings in comparison to other universities.

It's a quite good university as the staff are very helpful and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure student satisfaction. The local surroundings are very good easily as there is easy accesibility to shopping outlets and leisure centres nearby, and the nightlife is exceptionally good as there is a variety of places to go dotted around Southampton.

The oppurtunites for career progression is very good as external businesses are always coming into the university for conferences. Staff are always encouraging students to partake in activities related to career progression and also external activities related to charital organisations.

However Solent university is currently undergoing construction in some areas I. Great university with a great social vibe. All staff are friendly and helpful. Claim this profile.
